I attended one of my first big lolita meets a few weeks ago and wore my Angelic Pretty Musee du Chocolat JSK.
The first half of the meet was a potluck at one of the local lolita’s home and the latter half being at the Burnaby Village Museum’s Haunted Village.
I was very excited to attend my first big meet but was very nervous as well. ^^;
There were a few familiar faces but I was quite shy and didn’t get to talk to very many people. Funny thing was that some of the girls that I met at my first lolita meet and had approached to say “hi” recognized the bf before recognizing me. =w=;
For the potluck, I made egg salad pinwheels. After my visit to Adorabelle, I was obsessed with egg salad sandwiches for a while. LOL!
I decided to make it into pinwheel sandwiches instead of normal triangle or finger sandwiches. I needed loaves of bread that was cut horizontally instead of vertically and you can’t imagine how difficult it was for me to find a bakery that was willing to do it for me or understood what I was talking about. Even finding uncut loaves was difficult. I ended up trying to cut it myself and it turned out okay. ^w^;
The brain jello that I’m sure was delicious but I just couldn’t gather the courage to try in the end. DX
Again, I regret that I did not take enough photos. I was too shy to ask people for photos unless I was familiar with them already. 🙁
My camera also failed to take the group shot because of the fixed lens I had and didn’t think to change it before taking the group photo.
I had a nice time at the potluck and mostly stuffed myself with food. After that, we all headed to the Haunted Village (which wasn’t very scary by the way :D).
This was my second time to the Burnaby Village Museum, the first time being last Christmas when they had special decorations for the winter holiday season too.
I thought the Haunted Village would be scary, kind of like haunted houses, but it was really mostly for kids and they just had various Halloween/Spooky settings and places/shops for kids to go to for candy.
They also had staff/actors walk around to add to the spooky atmosphere. While we were waiting around for them to open as well as the rest of our group to arrive, we were approached by one of the museum staffs inquiring about our group (I later on found a photo of us that the staff had taken posted on their facebook page).
The museum was fairly small so it didn’t take us too long to see all the different sets. I tried to take as many photos as possible before it got too dark.
One of the highlights at the museum for me was their huge carousel. The price of riding on the carousel was included in our admission, so the bf and I got to go on it. Unfortunately didn’t get to take any photos with the camera. :/ But it was really fun and went faster than I expected!
Can’t wait for the next lolita meet~
More photos from the meet can be found here.
On another note, my schedule’s been pretty hectic lately what with school, work and commissions. It’s been pretty stressful and I even got sick right before the meet. ><;;
About to start on my second Anatomy and Physiology course that I need for my nursing application. It’s almost that time again to start my nursing app! I’m very nervous. Especially since I’ll really be graduating from undergrad this time.
Currently on a juice cleanse (Day 3!) and boy was it painful to look at the food photos. Aiming for a 7-day cleanse but if I can’t make it, then at least 5…. ^^;;
