Almost three weeks ago, I went out for dine out with a few girlfriends and CinCin was picked! It was one of my first nights out since going back to school so while I was tired, I was super excited.
It was pouring rain that night and when we arrived, the hostess offered to take our coats and umbrellas into coat check and we were seated promptly. After some debate, I settled on the flying squid for appetizer, striploin of beef for main, and milk chocolate mousse for dessert.
Don’t remember what cocktail this was but it was delicious. I thought it was a bit too sweet near the end though. :/
The appy! This was a pleasant surprise. The squid had a nice crunch texture to it. At first I was worried that it would be all “rubbery” and hard to chew on.
The striploin of beef cooked over burning apple and alder paired with smashed fingerlings, ash grilled portabella mushroom, kale and salsa verde. I was disappointed in my beef. I don’t know if it was just the cut or the way they prepared it but I found a lot of tendons in mine so it was REALLY hard to chew.
The risotto that my friend got was superb. I regret not ordering that one instead. I have no idea why, but for some reason I NEVER order risotto when I go out; yet, when I try the risotto dishes that my friends order, I always seem to enjoy it!
The chocolate mousse was rich and smooth without being overbearingly sweet. The peanuts added a nice crunch to the otherwise soft texture.
Overall, I enjoyed the dinner. I was just really disappointed with my beef. Not sure if I would go again if I had to pay the regular price but if I do go again, I’ll make sure to order a pasta dish instead.
