A lot has changed since my last entry 8 months ago…
I quit my teaching job.
At the end of my last entry, I talked about finally securing a new job.
I finished my contract at my last job at the end of March. It was originally supposed to be mid-March, but then things happened at work and my replacement didn’t end up coming because of covid so I was asked to extend and the end of March was the most I was willing to do.
My last few months there ended up horrible because of a few bad apples. But I survived and made it out and I learned a good life lesson from the experience. I wouldn’t say I regret any of my actions, but I’ve definitely learned and will hopefully be better equipped to deal with the situation should something similar were to ever happen again (I certain hope NOT because I wouldn’t wish it on my enemy).
But MAN am I glad I’m not working there anymore!
I moved.
As soon as my new job was decided, I started looking for a new place with my boyfriend. After we found the place, next was to acquire all the furniture and appliances. Most of our big appliances we bought second-hand, except for the rice cooker and microwave oven.
Moving is expensive.
I still had a few holidays banked that I could take off, so I used them and moved during my last week at my last job.
We rented a van and did all the moving by ourselves and managed to get everything in 2 trips. I remember still packing boxes the day before.
On the day of the move, I also managed to put a hole in my new apartment within the first 5 minutes. LOL
I’m still amazed we managed the move all by ourselves. Even built the bed and the main furniture the first night.
I started my new job.
I love my new job. My coworkers and superiors are awesome. The company is great. I’m given a lot of freedom and I actually enjoy and am interested in what I do. But because of covid, I didn’t really get to actually work in the office as we switched over to working from home. It’s a little bit of a bummer since the office is downtown and the facilities there is awesome and I was kinda looking forward to it. You know, getting to work in an オシャレ downtown office building with a view. The food at the cafeteria was awesome too 🙁
On the other hand, working at home means I get a lot more free time to do my own stuff since I don’t need to commute. I can wear PJ bottoms every day.
I adopted 2 cats.
When apartment hunting, our selection was severely limited because we needed a pet friendly place. We ended up adopting 2 kittens from a local shelter — Sora and Umi. They’re from different litters and we adopted them about a month apart, but age wise they shelter people guess they’re about 2 weeks apart. Both were found as strays.
They’ve been with us for… 6 months now? And I’m so glad we have them.
They definitely make working from home a lot less lonely and boring. Haha
Bought a car.
Bought a car, technically lease, back in July. Still don’t have it yet though so production has been especially delayed because of covid and the car is also a new model that had just come out November of last year.
I’m super, SUPER stoked and can’t wait for the car to get here. I’ll be able to explore so much more of Japan with a car! And I can go to Costco and 業務スーパーand stuff!
Celebrated my birthday
You know how when you’re a kid and you imagine what your life would be like when you’re older. I’m totally not where kid me had thought I’d be when I became an adult.
But you know, that’s life?
I’d like to say I want to take this year to be my kickstart of 自分磨き but even as I’m typing this, I know I’m so fucking lazy that I won’t end up accomplishing much. When I say 自分磨き, my top goals would be to successfully meet my goal weight/figure and have better skin.
I wonder if I’ll actually be able to make it happen this year.
