My last update was a while ago and its now just a little over 2 week until school starts!
I’ve got all my paper work done as well as bought everything that I need I think. I still need to get my WHIMIS done online and finish my pre-reading that I’ve barely started. It’s always around this time of year that things start getting super hectic. Once Halloween is past, things start picking up real fast.
Back in October, I made a trip across the border to the outlet store (Uniform Destination) to get my scrubs. It’s much cheaper and they’ve also got a great selection.
I ended up getting two sets and one scrub top as I know I’ll be needing the scrub top for the simulation lab in school and the two sets I can wear during clinicals.
As a congrats-on-getting-into-nursing present, Sir Durr offered to buy my stethoscope for me. I got to pick the color and even choose what to engrave on it too! (I ordered mine online here).
Instead of being boring and engraving my own name on it (to make it easier to tell mine apart from others’) I decided to name it and engrave that (as I like to name my inanimate belongings). After much brainstorming I ended up with the name Ebisu (恵比須). One of the Seven Gods of Fortune originating from Japan. Ebisu is the god of luck (and fishermen) and guardian of health of small children. I figured it apt as I’ll be placing this over peoples hearts. ^^
Went and bought my white nursing shoes from sketchers. I’ve been in love with the soles in their “Go Walk” line and there was a pair in that line that was all white and leather!
Seeing as how I won’t be able to get my nails done anymore once I start school and then get into the nursing profession, I’ve made my last pair of gel nails the fanciest ones I’ve ever had. I’m so sad to let them go and not have nails again D:
Getting the required textbooks have been a bigger ordeal for me than I would’ve thought. To save some big bucks, I contacted people who were putting up their textbooks for sale as well as made a WTB post on the communities too. TWICE, when I had agreed with someone to purchase their books, they changed their mind last minute, once was even on the day of, 30 minutes before our scheduled meeting time and I didn’t see the message until I had arrived… It was quite frustrating as it happened to me two times in a row. But I’ve gotten a hold on pretty much all the books I need. There’s still two more where I had contacted a seller back in October who agreed to meet up with me in January when school starts to give me the book, but when I sent them messages two separate times in November and December, they never replied. So… I’m thinking I might have to end up buying those new from the bookstore after school starts.
I think this is it for now. I’m both super excited and nervous for school to start. Not entirely sure what to expect but trying to prepare myself as much as I can.
Until next time~
